The Story of the Art
Under the Sea 2
Why do I use vibrant colors in my artwork? For years I was an HIV/AIDS medical case manager. Thirteen of them were at the County Hospital in Minneapolis.
While it was rewarding work to help my patients to get the best care and services possible, it was very difficult to see my patients struggle with homelessness, chemical dependency, etc. Sometimes they ended up dying, which was always extremely difficult.
I found I needed something to lift my spirits. That led me to use bright colors in artwork I would create for myself. I found the creation of vibrantly colored art was uplifting for my soul, and it was a way to celebrate my patients’ lives.Sue Mooney, Artist excerpt from ARTSY SHARK

About the Artist
Sue Mooney
Sue Mooney’s journey as an artist has been intricately intertwined with her passions in life. Initially embarking on an artistic venture as a means of channeling the intense emotions and joy she experienced in her professional life, Sue’s artistry has since evolved into a beautiful portrayal of color and vibrancy.
Having dedicated years to advocating for profoundly developmentally disabled clients and individuals affected by HIV/AIDS, Sue channeled her fervent dedication and advocacy into her work, striving for the best outcomes for her clients. However, her innate interest in art never waned, eventually propelling her to make a remarkable decision – leaving behind her job and former life and embarking on a journey in her camper van with her two Yorkies to immerse herself in the art circuit.
Sue’s bold artistic pursuits have not gone unnoticed. From participating in prestigious shows across the country to garnering attention from the media for her vivid and expressive use of color, Sue’s journey as an artist has been nothing short of awe-inspiring.While she initially delved into digital paintings of animals, utilizing color to infuse texture and intrigue into her creations, Sue’s artistic evolution led her to her current focal point – textured abstract acrylic paintings. Notably self-taught, she wields her palette knife to craft pieces that exude her trademark boldness and vibrancy.

In alignment with the evolution of her art, Sue transitioned her business name from Wild Barking Moon to Sue Mooney Art, reflecting the current essence of her work. As she continues to push the boundaries of her creativity, Sue invites others to join her on this enthralling journey, where the mesmerizing allure of colors serves as a balm for the soul.
Sue Mooney’s artistic odyssey stands as a testament to the profound beauty that emerges when passion intertwines with creativity, offering an enriching experience for all who immerse themselves in her world of art.
