Competition 2025

Thank you to everyone who joined us for an incredible evening at HOTdish: A Microgranting Dinner!

We enjoyed watching our HOTDish Finalists pitch their ideas to build a stronger Detroit Lakes community. Together, we raised $510 for the winning idea!

Congratulations to our Winner: Lakes Figure Skating Club & DL Youth Hockey Association 🎉

Their idea to provide a skate rack for free skate rentals during open ice time won the hearts and votes of our attendees. We can’t wait to see it come to life!

We had 3 other fantastic pitches:
Kelly Hanninen – One Love Community Connection: A platform to connect people with needs and people with skills & resources to foster connection and uplift our community.
Michael Haggart – Homestead Harvest: A member-based community gardening organization that provides consultation, construction, cultivation, community gardens, and connections.
Jonathan Melgaard – Aggasiz Ideas: Curating a summer event series that celebrates community and opens minds to new and interesting ideas.

If you’d like to help bring these projects to life or have useful insights, email sarah@project412mn.org—we’ll connect you!

A huge thank you to all our finalists, attendees, supporters, Bucks Mill Brewing, and Lakeview Catering for making this event a success.
