Lake Life
Growing up in a lake town like Detroit Lakes is special in many ways. As a lover of the outdoors, it seemed natural to me to display all of the wonderful activities everyday life in DL encompasses, reflecting the memories of my childhood and all of the seasons of living in the North.

The design is named 'Experiencing Detroit Lakes.' I grew up in Detroit Lakes until I moved to Chicago.
I now get to visit DL every year as a tourist and experience all of the seasons and activities available.
I created this piece to show visitors what fun there is to have year round.

About the Artist
Darlene Harrison
I’m a native of Detroit Lakes and have been drawing since I was able to hold a pencil. I enjoyed learning from DL art teachers Mr. Eiesland and Mr. Merry (both retired by now) who inspired me to continue using my talent.
I’ve become an award-winning hyper-realism artist with a husband and two children, currently residing between Colorado and Indianapolis. I’ve also operated a graphic design business since 2006.
When I’m not designing or drawing, my favorite thing to do is travel with family.
I love what’s happening to Detroit Lakes and how it’s growing. I’m very proud to be a part!
