Dick Beardsley Races was acquired by Project 412 in 2024 and is part of its Event and Race Division. James Botnen of Runday Events is the race director.
Race Day: September 6th, 2025
With over 1,400 runners, it was a memorable day of energy and excitement in the beautiful city of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota! The crisp fall air set the stage for an incredible day of running as our racers gave it their all at our 30th Anniversary event!
Weekend Race Happenings
Our race weekend kicked off Friday evening with the Legends Pasta Dinner, featuring running greats Dick Beardsley and Bill Rodgers and emceed by Minnesota Star Tribune Opinion Editor and Vice President, Phil Morris.
Saturday morning began with an 8 am mass start in front of the Detroit Lakes Pavilion, followed later by the Youth Run at 11 am. Dick Beardsley joined fellow legend Rodgers taking on the Andy Beardsley Memorial 5K.
What Was New
New this year, the Cheer Zones brought an extra boost of energy and excitement, encouraging participants and spectators across every distance. The first place Cheer Zone winner (Laker Volleyball) received $500 with the two runners up (Laker Cross Country & Laker Soccer) receiving $250 each.
